ELIGIBILITY FOR MEMEBERS:

Veterans must have received an honorable discharge from active duty or general discharge under honorable conditions.
Veterans must be ambulatory and independent in all activities of daily living.
The Veterans Home is not an assisted living facility or nursing home. Veterans must have served on active duty during a period of declared war. *Effective September 7, 1980, Veterans must have served on active duty for a minimum of 24 consecutive months. *Prior to September 7, 1980, there are different qualification criteria

Application Process

Applications may be submitted through any of the West Virginia Department of Veterans Assistance (WVDVA) field offices located throughout the state or by contacting the West Virginia Veterans Home directly. A copy of the Veteran’s DD form 214 must be submitted along with the application, preadmission testing and certain medical records.

Structure & Governing board

The governance of the Home is also assisted by a nine member Advisory Board representing all facets of the local community to include: legal, financial, medical and governmental. The West Virginia Veterans Home is a wholly owned and operated state facility.

Services Provided

Domiciliary care only. Recreation; Job Referral; Transportation to VAMC, Huntington; Library; Chapel; Shopping Trips. Encourage education at all levels
