ELIGIBILITY FOR MEMEBERS:

Eligibility is defined by Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 4, section 7, clause 43.
Veterans who have served 180 days of regular active-duty military service and were honorably discharged are eligible to receive services at the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke.
Veterans who served 90 days of active-duty service, at least one day of which was during wartime and were honorably discharged, are also eligible as are Veterans who served in wartime and were awarded the Purple Heart or received a service-connected disability.

Application Process

Application for entrance to Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke: DORMITORY: After eligibility has been established, need for admission is determined by the admitting team. LONG TERM CARE: After eligibility has been established, current medical records are requested. Following receipt of such records, the admitting team (Physician, Registered Nurse and Social Worker) review records and a decision is made as to level of care required.

Structure & Governing board

A seven-member Board of Trustees appointed by the Governor to serve seven-year terms. The Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke is fully accredited by The Joint Commission.

Services Provided

Long-Term Care, Domiciliary, Dental Clinic, full Outpatient Department and Specialty Clinics.
