ELIGIBILITY FOR MEMEBERS:

Admission shall be granted only to honorably discharged veterans who were residents of Maine at the time of their entry into the United States Armed Forces or who are residents of Maine at the time of application, and to the spouses, widows or widowers, and gold star parents of eligible veterans, provided that suitable facilities are available.

Application Process

To apply for admission, eligible applicants may contact the admissions coordinator or complete a written application and mail it to the Maine Veterans’ Home. A direct admission of full-pay private patient or application through the State’s MaineCare Program determines financial eligibility and medical necessity for admission.

Structure & Governing board

The Maine Veterans’ Homes is a public, nonprofit entity and operates facilities at six locations: Augusta, Bangor, Caribou, Machias, Scarborough, and South Paris. The administration is vested in the Board of Trustees, who are appointed by the Governor and must be honorably discharged war veterans. The Board of Trustees consists of eleven members, including the Director of the Bureau of Veteran Services who serves as an ex-officio member of the Board.

Services Provided

Memory Care and Residential Care services. Accepting private pay, LTC & other insurance, Medicare and MaineCare.
