ELIGIBILITY FOR MEMEBERS:

Veteran must have served on active military duty 90 days or more; or if less than 90 days, discharged due to a disability in the line of duty: and be in receipt of a discharge other than dishonorable.
Spouses of veterans and gold star parents are also eligible for admission.

Application Process

Applications are submitted to the Home from any source including Parish Veterans Assistance Counselors, Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers, veterans service organizations, community nursing homes, and private or state hospitals. They are processed by the Admissions Review Committee at the Home.

Structure & Governing board

Overseen by a Department Secretary appointed by the Governor, with input from a nine-member Veterans’ Affairs Commission also appointed by the Governor. The Home, itself, is under the direct supervision of a licensed Administrator.

Services Provided

Medical, skilled nursing care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, hospice care, Alzheimer/Dementia care, x-rays, lab, activities, volunteer services, pharmacy for unidose medicines and the home is Medicare certified.
