NASVH President Tracy Schaner
THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF STATE VETERANS HOMES

Greetings and Welcome to the National Association of State Veterans Homes’ Website!

It is an honor and privilege to serve as President of an organization with members and an executive leadership team who are all so committed to caring and advocating for our Nation’s heroes.

We have a marvelous and demanding year ahead of us! As such, our 71-year history of promoting strong federal policies and sharing knowledge and experiences, to better address common problems among State Veterans Homes, remains our focus.

While our primary mission to serve, promote, and enhance the quality of care and life that our Veterans and their families receive is equally imperative, how this mission is fulfilled can vary depending on the opportunities that arise and the multitude of challenges we face at any given time. With the various opportunities and challenges that come, I am of the belief that this journey can’t be accomplished alone. Therefore, we thank our past leadership for establishing our Constitution and Bylaws, which recognize the importance of our Executive Officers, Regional Directors, Committee Chairs, and Past Presidents. We are also very fortunate to have an incredibly talented and dedicated group of leaders within our Executive Team who are all ready and willing to assist overcome even the most difficult tasks. It is through this synergy that we will continue to meet the high expectations we have set for ourselves and reach new heights while ensuring that our primary mission and purpose is achieved.

We recently re-designed this website with our key members, partners, and patrons in mind. In exploring the website, our hope is that you will find the information provided useful and informative. By collaborating with our member State Veterans Homes and support staff, we strive to keep the website current with up-to-date relevant information so that it is a timely and beneficial resource. Members should notify us of any changes in information for their State Veterans Homes. Should you have any recommendations for improvement, please submit this feedback via the Contact Us link and we will make every effort to include your suggestions.

This year, the Association held our Summer Conference in Austin, TX. This conference has been lauded as a great success, bringing together many members and vendors, as well as serving as an extraordinary platform to exchange valuable information, forge strong connections and collectively share best practices and lessons learned. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Texas team, for their fantastic job in hosting and welcoming the membership, and to the Education and Summer Conference Committee members who demonstrated their commitment and contributed to making this event a tremendous achievement. Also, thank you to all who attended and helped make the 2023 Summer Conference such a huge success!

The Executive Committee hopes to see all of you at our 2024 Winter Conference in Alexandria, Virginia. This event will be held February 4-8, 2024. The link to the hotel for reservations will be available soon in the Conferences section of our website. While marking your calendars for the winter conference, please be sure to also place a reminder to check back at our website frequently so you can also “save-the-date” for our 2024 Summer Conference. The dates and place of this event will be provided soon. We also hope to see you there!

Again, I look forward to a year of opportunities and challenges and carrying out the many worthwhile undertakings for the benefit of our Veterans within our State Homes.

Thank you for visiting the NASVH website. I encourage you to further explore our webpage.

If there is anything we can do to assist you, or you have any recommendations, please let us know.

Together, we are “Caring for America’s Heroes.”

Most Sincerely,

  • Tracy M. Schaner
